Based on an existing recommendation published by EHEDG France in 2009, an international team of experts has recently started the Working Group work with the aim of writing a new EHEDG guideline on Cleaning in Place. The future document will comprise:
- General design aspects
- CIP Kitchen/Farm/Station - best in class design (i.e. safety, energy efficiency, sizing etc.)
- CIP-circuits (i.e. mix-proof valves, self-drainability, dilution effects, velocities in heat systems etc.)
- Qualification of cleaning systems & CIP validation (i.e. design requirements, flows, concentrates, drainage, inspection, cleaning efficiency)
- Management of CIP systems as well as specific cleaning issues (i.e. evaporators, fillers, sterilisers, fluid beds).
The future document will not consider open equipment cleaning (COP), SIP and pigging. The Working Group scope will be aligned and coordinated with other active EHEDG Working Groups such as 'Tank Cleaning' and 'Cleaning Validation'.
